Introduction

I am an attorney who works with all aspects of estates. After several years in the United States Air Force, I returned to my native Oregon in 1971 to attend law school in Eugene. In 1974, I began practicing law in Roseburg, Oregon with three other attorneys. In the early 1990's my wife and I decided change our residence to Albuquerque New Mexico. I now practice in Oregon and New Mexico and am licensed in both states.

I have been working with clients to solve their estate, business, and real property ownership problems for 27 years. A large part of my practice has been drafting and administration of wills and trusts. My practice also emphasizes long term family planning and often involves larger estates where split trusts, family limited partnerships, charitable trusts, limited liability companies and other tax and probate avoidance devices are needed.

My professional memberships include the New Mexico Bar, the Oregon Bar, and the American Bar Association. I have been an Optimist, Moose, Rotarian, and active in various service groups throughout my career. My background includes Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Doctor of Jurisprudence degrees. Since law school, I have attended dozens of training sessions designed to improve my skills as an attorney. In 1995, 1998 and again in 2002, I attended the American Law Institute and American Bar Association advanced estate planning training at the University of Wisconsin.

The transfer of wealth between generations is a complex subject and one fraught with pitfalls and traps for the unwary. I strive to provide my clients with legal advice that is related to their circumstances, reasonably priced, quickly available, and accurate. I have given planning seminars hosted by financial professionals, banks, Mercy Medical Center and others several times a year and intend to continue those seminars. In my opinion, financial advisors and CPA's should be included in the planning process. I am willing to meet with new clients at their financial advisor's or their accountant's office. I also make house calls, as I find that it is often much better to meet new clients in surroundings that are familiar to them, rather than in my office after they have exhausted themselves to get there.

Clients are served directly by me, fees are charged at flat or hourly rates under a published schedule. Clients are encouraged to discuss fees and services to be rendered at the first appointment to make sure that they understand what the charges are to be. Each client will receive a letter confirming the charges and the scope of services to be rendered.
